Project Warm-up

 Crafting Comfort for Our Community

Project Warm-up is a year-round effort to help keep our neighbors in need warm during the cold winter months. Using yarn provided by the WA-ID Volunteer Center, our volunteers knit and crochet essential winter items like hats, scarves, and blankets. We store these handmade items throughout the year and distribute them every October to local nonprofit agencies.

Our 2025 Impact

Last year was a testament to the power of community:

  • 39 Volunteers dedicated their time and talent.

  • 15,711+ Hours were spent crafting.

  • 4,600+ Items (knitted, crocheted, and quilted) were created and donated.

Where Your Work Goes

We provide warmth to students at local elementary schools, and clients of nonprofits like the CAP Food Bank, Asotin County Food Bank, the YWCA, the Boys and Girls Clubs of the LC Valley and Lapwai, St. Vincent de Paul, Homes of Hope, Lewiston Senior Meal Site and Meal Delivery, and the American Red Cross, among many others.

How You Can Help

Whether you are a master crafter or just starting out, we would love to have you!

  • Free Supplies: You can use your own patterns or ours, and we provide the yarn for all project items.

  • Work from Home: Most of our volunteers enjoy crafting from the comfort of their own living rooms, but if you prefer to join like-minded volunteers, you can:

  • Join the Group: If you prefer a social setting, join our weekly meetup!

    • Where: Lewiston Community Center

    • When: Wednesdays, 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM

  • Donate: We rely on yarn donations from the community and generous support from an AmeriCorps Seniors grant, AVISTA Utilities, the Rotary Club, and ICCU.
